The Problem Nobody In This Industry Is Talking About
There is a rust problem in hardscape material, and it is not coming from bad installation.
Since the supply disruptions that started around COVID, manufacturers have been under pressure to source material locally and cheaply. One of the ways they have done that is by using ground up recycled concrete in the mix that makes pavers and retaining wall block. Recycled concrete carries rebar, and not all of that rebar gets screened out.
Rebar rusts. Two or three seasons later, that rust starts bleeding through the face of your wall or your patio. We have watched it happen across material from multiple manufacturers, not one brand.
Why That Makes The Warranty The Whole Decision
Every hardscape contractor will tell you they install quality product. Almost none of them will tell you what happens when the product itself fails two years after they cashed your check.
That is the part we can answer. Belgard backs qualifying installations with a lifetime product warranty, and in our experience they honor it in practice. We have seen them replace an affected project outright, and we have seen them core out rust areas and patch them so cleanly you would never know the repair happened.
When that claim needs to be made, we make it. You should not have to litigate a manufacturer warranty on your own patio.
What This Does Not Mean
We are not the only Belgard certified contractor in central Pennsylvania, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. There are others, mostly a good distance from us.
We are also not going to tell you competing manufacturers make bad block. What we will tell you is that warranty terms and warranty behavior are not the same thing across every brand, and after twenty two years we have made our choice about which one we want standing behind our work.

No. We install other systems and we will price whatever you want. We recommend Belgard on most projects for the reason above.
