What Landscaping And Hardscaping Cost In Central Pennsylvania
Paver patios start at about $30 per square foot. Our minimums are $2,500 for a patio, $450 for a landscape job, and $80 for a maintenance visit. Below is what moves those numbers, and why we will not quote your project over the phone.
Starting Points
A paver patio starts around $30 per square foot and only goes up from there depending on what you pick and what the site demands.
Our minimums are straightforward. A patio install starts at $2,500. A landscape job starts at $450. A maintenance visit starts at $80. If what you are describing falls under one of those, we will say so on the phone instead of sending an estimator out to tell you in person.
The Range We Work In
We have built $2,500 installs and we have built million dollar installs. If your project clears our minimum, it is worth a call.
Keeping the small end open is deliberate. We were in business through 2008, and the lesson from that year was that you cannot chase big price tags and stay afloat. Plenty of companies that only wanted the trophy jobs are not here anymore.
What Actually Moves The Price
Access
How close can we get machinery to the work, and what size machine can we use? A backyard we can drive into and a backyard we have to wheelbarrow into are two different projects at the same square footage.
Grade
Building onto flat ground is not the same as building into a hill. Elevation changes mean retaining, and retaining means engineering, material, and time.
Age of the property
New construction and older construction present different problems. Older properties often bring drainage issues, settled grade, and utilities that are not where the plans say they are.
Material
The system you choose changes the number. We are a Belgard certified contractor and recommend Belgard on most projects for warranty reasons, but we will price whatever you want to build.
Things Homeowners Commonly Add
The most frequent additions to a project are landscape lighting, stone edging in place of plastic, and upgrading mulch beds to decorative stone. Restoring the lawn with sod at the end of a hardscape build is the other one, and we cover why that matters on our what to expect page.
Why We Will Not Quote Over The Phone
It is not that we are being difficult. It is that we have never seen a photograph that shows the grade, the access, or what is sitting under the topsoil.
A number given sight unseen is either padded to protect the contractor or low enough to become an uncomfortable conversation later. Neither one helps you. Every quote we write is written by someone who stood on the property, and Peter writes the hardscape quotes himself.
Request an estimate and we will get someone out to the site.
